[fusion_text]Thank you to everybody who tuned in to watch Premier Boxing Champions on NBC this past Saturday! It was a huge success! Debut of “Premier Boxing Champions” on NBC was the most watched Boxing broadcast since 1998!
According to NBC Sports PR, the viewership peaked at 4.2 million during those intense, final rounds of Thurman vs. Guerrero. That is incredible! The PBC on NBC broadcast averaged 3.4 million viewers throughout the whole program. Thank you to all the viewers, boxing and non-boxing fans, that tuned in to make this a success.
The whole production of this was years in the making, with the main goal of bringing the sport of Boxing back to Prime Time Free TV in a way that’s never been done before. Al Haymon and NBC did not disappoint. The whole team did such an amazing job and we’re looking forward to
the upcoming ones!
The next fight is going to be on April 11 at 5:30pm PT / 8:30pm ET at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. What were your thoughts of the whole production? I’d love to hear from you![/fusion_text]
Loved it except for the UFC intros. I like the tradition of watching the corners making their way through the crowd. Keep it real and skip the BS. Sugar Ray was great. Keep him at the forefront.
Skip the UFC/Wrestling intros, and cut the lights! Keep it real!
Please only. …Big fights…..My girlfriend don’t even like boxing and she was in too the fight. ..we have a great time…..can’t wait. ….for the one
Can’t wait for ..Danny Garcia
I found it quite refreshing to see prime time boxing in its true form. No extravagant hype but, focus on the sport. Excellent and educated impartial commentary.
It was pay per view worthy but awesome being on free tv. I own a boxing gym and have been saying for years that boxing should be on free television to bring back it’s popularity as a sport. Thank you for providing this opportunity.
Keep up the good work. Brings back memories of the good old boxing days I love it…..thankyou NbC..thankyou mr. Leonard you are the best. My friend
It was a sucess indeed…cant wait for PBC on NBC on april 11!!!
How about every Saturday night? Thought the show was great. Hope to see more shows more frequent. Loved it!
Just wanted to tell how pleased I was to see the show last Saturday evening, which was excellent entertainment and full of enough boxing skills to appease even the less than avid boxing fan. As a younger man I used to look forward to fights on network TV’s Wide World of Sports, and any other time matches were on regular TV. I think what you’re doing is very good thing for the sport, and since I’ve been a fan for almost 50 years running I look forward to more exciting matches in the future.
On a personal note I’d like to say I’ve always been an avid fan of yours, and am pleased by the way your life has been positive since leaving the ring. God has a purpose for all of us, and it seems at present He’s used what He gave you earlier in life inside, in spite of the mistakes made as a younger man, and continued to use you in other dimensions of the sport, as continued contributions to the positive welfare of other people. Keep up the good work.
I was so impressed with the quality of the boxers. The Thurman/Guerrero fight is the BEST I’ve seen in years. Outstanding athletes. Thank you for bringing boxing to primetime.
thank you, great match ups, great timing and long over due…thanks again
“AWSOME” a former fighter who fell in love with boxing watching good fights & some great fighters in the 70’s & 80’s enjoyed this reflection of yesterday year and all the shot callers realize that this is what is needed in bringing back the excitement of BOXING. I recall somewhere between 1979-80 before becoming one of the all time great champions that myself & others fighters @Hillcrest Heights boxing center received words of encouragement from you the great Sugar Ray Leonard. Recently viewed DVD of you vs. Beniteze that aired lived on prime TV that remember viewing back then as an exciting teen…
